Network design that holds up in the field.
LinkUP Network Solutions is a Canadian engineering firm. We plan, design and document optical, DWDM and IP transport networks, and we stand behind the package when your crew opens it at 2 a.m.
A transport network is too important to leave to guesswork.
Most delays on a build don't come from the equipment. They come from the paperwork that described it.
Lost maintenance windows
One wrong port or panel on a drawing sends the crew home and pushes the turn-up to the next window.
Records that drift from reality
When the database stops matching the site, every project after yours pays for it in survey time.
Rework that eats the budget
A package that fails review comes back around twice, and the second pass always costs more than the first.
We design as if we're the ones on site, because for fifteen years we were.
End-to-end design and documentation
We work as the design arm of your engineering team. You bring the project; we deliver the drawings, the records and the method to build it.
Optical & DWDM design
Wavelength planning, optical link budgets, amplifier and ROADM layouts, and end-to-end circuit design across the transport layer.
Detailed design packages
Complete DDPs ready for construction: node views, rack elevations, port and panel assignments, power schedules and bills of material.
High- & low-level design
HLDs that set the architecture and LLDs that spell out every interface, address and parameter the build team needs.
MOPs & turn-up support
Step-by-step methods of procedure with back-out plans, plus engineering support on the bridge through the maintenance window.
Cable run lists & field documents
Cable schedules, labelling, fibre assignments and rack drawings, produced in your templates so the field sees what it expects.
Network records & inventory
As-built updates and database work, so the records match the site when the next project team opens them.
Design audits & QA
An independent review of a package before it reaches the field, catching mismatches between drawings, records and reality.
IP & Ethernet transport design
Router and switch design for metro and backbone transport, including interface planning, migrations and service cutovers.
Engineering resourcing
Design engineers who plug into your process and tools for a project or a program, without permanent headcount.
Wavelength & DWDM design
Point-to-point optical capacity between sites, data centres and cloud on-ramps. This is the work we do most, and the part of the network where a design mistake is most expensive.
What we design
Capacity planning
10G, 100G, 400G and 800G wavelengths sized against today's demand and the next three years of growth.
Optical link budgets
Loss, OSNR and dispersion calculated end to end, so the circuit turns up at the margin you designed for.
ROADM & amplifier layout
Degree planning, add/drop structure and amplifier placement for rings, meshes and linear routes.
Route diversity
Protected and diverse paths designed and documented, so a single fibre cut doesn't take the service with it.
Low-latency routing
Path selection and round-trip delay budgets for workloads where milliseconds carry a cost.
Migration sequencing
Moving live wavelengths off end-of-life gear in small, reversible steps with a written back-out at each one.
What you get in the package

- Node views, rack elevations, optical schematics and fibre routing, produced in your templates.
- Port & panel assignments
- Every shelf, slot, port and patch panel identified, cross-checked against the live records.
- Power & cabling
- DC power draw, breaker and BDFB assignments, cable run lists and labelling schedules.
- Bill of material
- Equipment, optics, patch cords and miscellaneous material, priced and ready to order.
- Method of procedure
- A step-by-step MOP with pre-checks, verification steps and a back-out plan for the window.
- As-built close-out
- Records and inventory updated after turn-up, so the next project starts from the truth.
Built for the people who run networks
Different clients, same need: design work that survives review and works in the field.
Carriers & operators
Transport and DWDM programs that run to a strict standard, a strict template and a strict window.
Regional ISPs
Growing providers who need carrier-grade engineering without carrying a full design department.
Enterprise & data centres
Private optical links, DCI and campus transport designed for capacity you won't outgrow next year.
Vendors & integrators
Design and documentation capacity behind your delivery team when the project pipeline spikes.
Government & municipal
Public network projects that need clear engineering records and professional accountability.
International projects
Operators in the Middle East and North Africa, supported in English and Arabic by engineers who know both markets.
A process your planners and crews can follow
Four steps, the same way every time, so you always know where your package stands.
Understand the ask
We review the requirement, the existing records and the site constraints, then confirm the scope in writing before any drawing starts.
Build the package
Drawings, schedules and procedures are produced to your standards, then checked line by line against the source documents.
Check before you send
Every package gets a second pass by a licensed engineer, so your reviewers aren't the ones finding the mistakes.
Support the build
We answer field questions during implementation and close out the as-built records when the work is done.
What's your next engineering goal?
Tell us where you are and we'll tell you what the design work actually involves.
Expanding capacity on an existing route
We assess the current fibre and equipment, model the added wavelengths or interfaces, and produce the design and MOP to light them without touching live traffic.
Building a new site or ring
From site survey and rack layout to power, cabling and the full detailed design package, delivered in the format your construction team already uses.
Migrating off end-of-life equipment
We map the existing services, design the target state, and sequence the migration so each cutover is small, reversible and documented.
Clearing a design backlog
Extra engineering capacity for a few months, working inside your process and tools, with no ramp-up cost once the backlog is gone.
Fixing records that no longer match the field
Audit, reconcile and update the drawings and inventory, so the next project starts from the truth instead of a guess.
Vendors we design on
Our engineers work across the platforms Canadian networks are actually built from, so your design doesn't need a translation layer.
Where we add the most value
- Transport and DWDM programs with tight maintenance windows
- Design backlogs that need extra capacity for a few months
- Packages that must survive a strict carrier review process
- Sites where the records and the reality have drifted apart
- Teams that need one engineer accountable from scope to as-built
Small team. Senior engineers. No handoffs.
LinkUP Network Solutions Inc. is an Ontario-based telecom engineering firm founded by a professional engineer with more than fifteen years in optical and transport networks, including in-house experience at a major Canadian carrier and with global equipment vendors.
We're small on purpose. The engineer who scopes your project is the engineer who signs the drawings, and the work is checked before it leaves our hands, not after it reaches the field.
Why clients stay with us
- Licensed professional engineering oversight on every package
- Carrier documentation standards followed to the letter
- Direct access to the designer, not a ticket queue
- Flexible engagement: per project, per package or per month
- Service in English and Arabic
Common questions
The things clients usually ask before the first project.
What exactly is in a detailed design package?
A DDP is the complete construction document for a site: node views and rack elevations, port and panel assignments, power and grounding details, cable run lists, a bill of material, and the method of procedure for the turn-up. It's everything a field crew needs to build the design without phoning an engineer.
Can you work in our templates and standards?
Yes, and we prefer to. We build to your drawing templates, naming conventions and review checklists, so your reviewers see a package that looks like it came from your own team.
How do you price the work?
Per package for well-defined design work, or a monthly rate when you need ongoing engineering capacity. We quote after we've seen the scope, and we don't bill for rework caused by our own errors.
How quickly can you turn a package around?
A straightforward site design is typically a few business days once we have the records and the scope. Larger multi-site programs are scheduled with you up front so you know which sites land in which week.
Do you support the work after it's delivered?
Yes. We answer field questions during implementation, stay reachable through the maintenance window, and update the as-built records when the work is complete.
Do you take on international projects?
We do. Our engineers have worked with operators and vendors in Canada, the Middle East and North Africa, and we work in English and Arabic.
Ready to get your design off the backlog?
Send us the scope and we'll come back with an approach, a timeline and a price.
